Threading Twenty Cubic Meters of Debris in the Present Tense

Cotton thread, bricks, plants' tinctures and essential oils
dimensions variable
2025

13.000 mts of cotton and nettle-dyed cotton yarn wrapped in a ball around a brick rescued at the former Hospital Ujazdowski Castle’s basement connected in balance with a nested-hanging brick.

The second, hanging brick was rescued from a dismantled students’ barricade built during a protest in support of Palestine in Amsterdam at the UvA -University van Amsterdam. The brick at the CCA's basement was loose due to the German bombardment that the former Hospital in resistance suffered during WWII.

The amount of cotton was calculated as to imagine a potential carrier-bag that would hold 20 cubic meters of debris -per capita, that was what authorities calculated was left in rubble after WWII Warsaw’s bombardments.

The threadball serves as a dynamic spatiality that hosts and tends historical resonances, popular resistance processes and grieving. Three ally herbs tinctures and oils were used to anoint the yarn within the threading process, invoking awareness’ expansion, balancing force and transhistorical communication.
