The length of the thread that makes the size difference between the balls was arranged by scaling down 1:1'000.000 the area of each country, converting squared kilometers to lineal meters. The price of the piece was set adjusting the area of each country to Colombian currency, making the differences in size between the threadballs paralell to the difference between their individual prices.
