The Master Class

HD video loop, intervened nature documentary excerpt, two cerimans, spinning motors, plummets, wire, boards, variable dimensions.

50 Drawings copied from the book The Power of Movement in Plants (1880) by Charles Darwin, ink on cotton paper, 14 x 21 cm.

2013

A video loop depicts tropical plants growing in an accelerated pace, spiraling upwards as they grow. This part of the video installation echoes fifty drawings copied from Darwin's The Power of Movement in Plants, in which maps of their movements are depicted. Just before the video loops, three sentences appear on it as affirmations and questions about the image itself.

Framing the video, two ceriman plants - Monstera Deliciosa -  hang from the roof; each one has a wire with a plummet suspended from their bottom. The plummet is pointing to the center of an industrial motor in motion.

Installation view at Marilia Razuk, Sao Paulo 2013
